The European goldfinch is an introduced species in Tasmania. The delightful red and yellow make it a pleasure to paint. This was a commissioned watercolour with instructions for the bird to be perched on a moss and lichen encrusted branch with small blossoms. My environmental Science training is revisited for the bird detail while the background is a loose atmospheric watercolour. The original is sold but it is available as giclee prints, greeting card and sublimation print on various items.
