Two of the commission works which I have to get busy on are of Blue Wrens. Fortunately these delightful birds have been regular visitors to our garden in the past months so I have photos. At Penguin Market this Sunday I will be working on one of the paintings. I expect I will use a combintion of tube watercolour, and Inktense and traditional watercolour pencils. Retaining some of the pencil marks is a great way to suggest feather texture. Penguin Market, Arnold St Penguin is on from 9 to 3,30 Sundays. This will be the last one for this year. Next is 8 January but due t cataract surgery I may miss that one. Sorry.
Less than a week to go! Of course I won’t be at Penguin Market on Sunday 5 Nov. The art I demonstrate tomorrow at Penguin Market will be Polymer clay mice and my cocoon jewellery range.Within the next couple of days I will add a slideshow here of some of my new Deloraine works. My stall is in my usual location in the Furmage Pavillion at the Showgrounds, stall 785. I am looking forward to seeing all the friends who drop in to say hello.
This week at Penguin Market I will be working with Polymer Clay. I have been making decorative mice for cheese platters (pocket pet mice for children) for many years. I have also enjoyed making small sculptures such as cats and garden flower brooches. At one stage I made mask brooches and recently I have been working on my Cocoon jewellery range. This unique product combines contrasting surfaces of polymer clay and kiln formed glass, usually dichroic, but sometimes hand painted recycled and tin float glass. After oven firing the creations are extremly hard. Come and see the works in progress from 9a.m. to 3 p.m. You can even buy some polymer clay to try for yourself.
Tomorrow at Penguin Market in my little artspace (near the plant nursery) I will demonstrate encaustic art…. FREE DEMONSTRATION. I will also have for sale encaustic supplies including a full starter kit (iron, heat stylus, paper, waxes and instruction book) for $160. Or you can have a go …. all materials supplied….. and make you own encaustic art card for a small fee in under 5 minutes.
